Let’s Go

The Dandy Highwaymen’s Land Shanties lyrics archive: Let’s Go
To the tune of “Way Ho!” a modern sea shanty of hope and community by Gregory David Caunt (aka Jean-Jacques J’adore)

Chorus:

Let’s go, me dandies, let’s go to gay Paris!
Let’s go across the channel for a tour!
We’ll take our grifting ‘cross that ever-shifting sea
to escape our fates and plunder foreign shores!

When Beau stole a judge’s periwig three years ago
He tried to sell it but a fence could not be found
So he donned it himself and then he matched it head to toe
And our crew was quite inspired, all around

We rode our horses to where periwigs abound,
Filled our closets and our purses up, and then,
Before too long, our whole crew became renowned
‘Cross the county as ‘The Dandy Highwaymen’.

One fateful day, the lawmen fell upon our den,
set upon us by that judge of Beau’s regards.
We three escaped, and thus are free to ride again
But this time we’ll try our hands at playing bards.
